about me

Just another artsy person who goes to work by day and tries to create by night before sleep claims me.

I started sketching as a kid (didn’t we all?) and progressed from there through horrible art teachers in high school, mediocre art teachers in college, and finally reading some books that cut out pretentiousness and went through design skills using logic. For a long time, I thought art was all about talent and obviously my grades in art classes indicated I had none. Eventually, I realized there may be some super geniuses out there with loads of talent, but for the most part successful artists are merely those people who work hard, listen to critiques without feeling personally attacked, and persevere. I am hoping to cultivate those skills.

Some of my work is considered frivolous by those in the educational realm. That’s ok, not every piece of art has to have a weighty meaning to it.

I’ve created pieces with more meaning, but never really felt that anyone who “got it” was doing more than buying into whatever story I managed to wrap around the piece or pieces. Heck, I wrote an entire thesis about a work I barely believed in myself. These days, I mostly worry about creating something at all.
